10 Minute Homemade Butter in a blue bowl

I saw one of my favorite food bloggers/influencers, Little Bits Of Real Food, post about making homemade butter a few months ago and ever since then I've been hooked. It's so easy to make and leaves you in control of the ingredients getting added. Check out the details below!

Prep:

-This whole recipe is a prep basically as you make it and then have it in your fridge for whenever you need it

Tips:

-The more local heavy cream you can find the better- that's a great rule of thumb to follow always!

-You can double or triple this recipe as needed. Just up the amount of salt and whipping time

Leftovers:

-This stores best in an airtight container for around a week or so

-If you make too much, wrap it very tightly in parchment paper until it makes a log, and store in the freezer in a freezer bag

The recipe:

10 Minute Homemade Butter

Prep time: 1 minute

Cook time: 10 minutes

Serves: makes about a stick of butter

For the butter

8 fl-oz of heavy whipping cream

1 teaspoon of salt

Instructions:

  1. Pour the heavy cream into your kitchen aid mixer with the whisk attachment

  2. Beat on high for 10 minutes or until butter has formed into a ball/clump and you're left with buttermilk at the bottom of the bowl

  3. Take your newly formed butter and squeeze out any of the excess liquid aka buttermilk

  4. Mix in your salt with a knife

  5. Serve and enjoy! I find this is best served with fresh sourdough bread- yum! Check out my sourdough recipe here
